Perfect car rental company. Pick up at the airport was on time (even with flight delay), car quality was good and airport drop off was instantly after returning the car. Maybe the rental price is a bit high, but that may count for all rental companies
Be carefull when you rent a Car with small companies. No problems until check out/ return car. We went 3x in the tunnel of Akureyri ... and that means 3x 1500ISK. in the morning, someone in the office charged 9000 ISK. After claiming... no answer until now. Not about the 4500 ISK double charged from a office worker, but about transparency. Be aware, when you book something here.
We are very very happy with the rental. We miscalculated the duration of quarantine and the staff was very helpful with the changes to our booking. We rented the camper version of Dacia Duster. The supplies that came with the car vere very sufficient. It had a gas stove (with the cartridge), blankets, pillows, a box with cookware (we did not need to use it, but was nice to have as backup). The car itself was without any issues and handled the gravel roads of Iceland with ease. When we returned the car, my wife forgot her watch in the car and one of the owners brought it to us to the airport. We are very grateful for all the care and help. I can wholeheartedly recommend this rental company!
I rented a Dacia Dokker camper van from here back in 2018, with my boyfriend. They were so very patient with us as it had been my boyfriend and I's first international travel alone. We actually ran into an issue with one of our credit cards not working and he was so patient and kind to us. We were able to drive and camp at different campsites on the ring road. This trip was just hands down amazing and we have to thank ACE for a large part of that! We also forgot our camera in the van, which they promptly mailed back to us. Just amazing staff and amazing vehicles. I really recommend them if you plan on renting a vehicle in Iceland. No issues with returning the van either, we quickly took it through a car wash and returned it all clean :) My boyfriend and I will be going to Iceland again in the future and plan on using ACE Car Rental again. Thank you!
Very nice staff -- especially the helpful shuttle driver -- but they do not accept American Express despite stating that they do on their website FAQs, which made for a frustrating experience upon arrival after a long flight and required finding a new rental agency that does accept AmEx.
