It’s a parking lot. It’s actually a good parking lot. However, there is no reason for the airport to charge you a full day parking charge for a few hours into the next “day”/24 hour period. There’s no reason they couldn’t do 6-hour periods, or even half days. Except, it’s the government (Sacramento County owns/operates the airport) and they are more than happy to milk the public. They know you are going to park and they know you have no choice but to pay. They charge the same way in the long term lot.
I visit lots of airports in traveling for work. I love SMF for it's simplicity, yet it doesn't feel like a rinky-dink airport. This lot is fantastically close to the terminals.
The new economy parking procedure is terrible. The staff act like people should know-you put your credit card into park and then must use the sand credit card to exit. Previously, you got a ticket and cashed or credit card out. It’s a horrible system. It’s also hard to read the system from a standard car level. The staff had to cup her hand over it ready it and she was standing. It should be rethought!
Easy parking ...quick walk to terminals or take the shuttle ... Easy exit
First time for this. Got home from my trip and my catalytic converter was gone. Airport paid for my parking tough. Don't park away from the main road.
