    I had a checking and savings account with TD bank for few years when I lived up north. I have been trying to close the accounts for over a year now and it has been a huge hassle. First, I wrote a letter to them requesting for it to be closed. They acknowledged this, but only closed the checking portion of the account. I wrote another letter but then I never heard back from them. I called to close the account and they said I would have to go in person. There are no TD banks in my state or any surrounding states, so I had to wait until I had a scheduled trip up north. On my trip I went to the bank to close the account, but by then I had accrued over $100 in account maintenance fees. Finally It was closed... and I thought the ordeal was over... but then I received a notice from collections that I have $8 that I owe TD bank (the amount of the pesky maintenance fee)... How could they have issued me cash from the account upon closing and not collected the $8??? TD bank is far from "America's most convenient bank."
