Terminal Civilian-approved! On October 27, 2018, I left a heart-shaped quartz necklace charm on a rusty dip can on the Corpsmen bench from my German mother, who was an au pair in the States during the '70s, and her parents gave it to her as a reminder of their love, to bring her luck, and protect her. The last time I was in Niederkrüchten, Germany, she gave it to me as a parting present with the intent that it would return to America. I hope the symbolism behind this beautiful rock also touches the hearts of Marines and sailors alike, whether they are alive or dead. ♡ This hike was challenging yet also the most-fulfilling hike I've ever done on a MCB, and upon first sight of the crosses and flags, an aura hits you. It's a very peaceful place.
