Great place, just NOT near the beach. A mile and a half at least and it's only an easy walk if you are a Marine! The campground itself is very nice. Clean, well maintained area. Bathrooms were clean and functioning, showers are token operated, machine right there, great pressure and hot water!! Sites are mostly good sized and far enough away from neighbors. Thanks USMC!

Stopped to use their showers. Make sure you have dollar bills as the token machine doesn't give you change. We have an annual beach pass so it didn't cost us anything to enter. Otherwise, it's $15 per vehicle. Showers were pretty clean and well maintained.

Nice quiet campsite. Beach access via trail, but it's about a mile and a half long, steep incline in some parts, and not a short walk. Not good with kids. Otherwise it's pretty peaceful.

I stayed at site 65 (RV hook up). 5 Stars for cleanliness of grounds and bathrooms/shower 3 Stars for location there are no ocean views but the drive to the beach wasn’t bad. Only about 10 min drive. 3 Stars for activities at the campground, not much to do except sleep there. 5 stars for friendliness of the camp hosts 1 star for price. $65 dollars per night plus an extra $15 per night for an extra car is a bit steep. When I stay at Sequoia National Forest camping fees are $22 per night and they offer shuttles all over the park. Overall we had a good time, but I think next time I will try to book at a site where I can see the water and am able to walk there. You wouldn’t be to walk to the beach with an ice chest or chairs.

The perfect spot for beach camping...just off the beach. Full services and welcoming staff. We camped with a party of 20+ and had a great time. Come enjoy San Clemente, come surf at Tressels, come hike the hills and canyons and stay at San Mateo campground.
