Love this place! I'd recommend their Chicken Katsu and Pork Belly rolls but their vegetarian options are great too! Perfect place to grab a quick bite and a coffee. The staff are super friendly, I was surprised at how many regular customers they must have because they remember all of their names and usual orders. Definitely worth a visit!

Finally made it here. Had the pork belly sandwich which was wonderful! Just a little sad that it only open on weekdays which made it hard for me to get there. Love to try the chicken katsu one day.

Popular inexpensive neighbourhood speciality food. Unique and yummy food, good price, too. A bit squashed, though.

Lucky Pickle Lucky Pickle is a hole in the wall sandwich joint in the back streets of Surry Hills (parallel to Crown St) with a couple of stools to sit at if you need to dine there. A short breakfast and lunch menu, but each option sounds amazing and what we ate was throughly enjoyable so definitely keen to try the others. The options listed are available til 2:30 or sold out, which on our day of visit, the “pork belly, duck liver, pickled carrot, daikon, cucumber , coriander, mayo and sriracha” was sold out, and we were quite early. Clearly this place is popular. We opted for the Japanese inspired chicken katsu, cabbage, sesame, mayo and tonkotsu sauce, served on a golden crusty crunchy baguette. It was super tasty and ready almost as quick as we ordered it, which was appreciated. We also ordered a salad, a takeway container, filled with quinoa, green beans, fennel, feta, almonds, honey mustard dressing, olives and herbs. For $12.50, we thought both items were reasonably priced. Breakfast has two options of granola or eggs and coffee is by De Lorenzo, so we didn’t get a coffee, as we’re not huge fans of that roast. But the sandwiches are great, so do make it a plan to visit. Staff were super friendly and efficient and had a great sense of humour too.
