Cakes looked delicious, but buying them was a bit awkward. Sold by the weight, no idea what a piece of cake weighs! They explained briefly but just cut it up and put on the scales, you really have no idea what your spending untill they tally it up at the end. Given the wrong flavour, I'm just not sure I'd bother again.
Good counter service today. It's like corona has sharpened everything up a bit. Top shelf bakery. Excellent selection.
Absolutely adore this place. The staff, food and ambiance are among the very best in Sydney and I have been a regular for years for this reason. Highly recommend.
I ordered their strawberry cake with a cup of tea, and about 15 minutes later had excruciating stomach pain followed by an entire afternoon spent on the toilet. I believe the cake had not been kept cool enough and must have given me some kind of food poisoning. While eating it, it tasted slightly stale and more 'room temperature' than cold. I've eaten at other Kurtosh's so I know this wasn't their normal standard. Unhygienic and they need to have better food safety measures in place to ensure this doesn't happen to any other customers.
No one mentions how expensive this place is. I popped in to buy a couple of slices of cake and paid $48 dollars. That is absolutely ridiculous! I could have bought an entire cake with that! Why charge $66 per kilo? Why?
