One of the most beautiful trails we did. We choose to go to the crater with road 9 and back with 8. Road 9 is a bit difficult but amazing crossing snow and rocks. The only problem is getting back to the car from the end of road 8- going up the main road for approximately 2 km. So if you can get a pick up it will be great for you!
Amazing place! Worth the hike for sure
Its just a big pile of rocks. Whats the big deal? I mean some of them are pretty neat I guess but I don't get what all the fuzz is about. I have seen some bigger and cooler rocks. Hamraborg in Kópavogur has way bigger and better rocks than this place. My geologist friend Þorgerður was always talking about this place saying stuff like "Stórurð! Já það eru sko steinar að mínu skapi!" but I feel betrayed. Maybe its just some geology nerd thing or something. The best part of the hike was when I was walking away from this place.
Excellent hike. We were lucky to be doing it on a fabulous day with gorgeous weather. Definite must do if you are in the area.
Went here in August and loved it! Great hike. It took us 5+ hours to complete but it was a worth hike!
