This is my childhood church. The memories I have of this beautiful church are precious and endless. This church was the gathering place for all the wonderful catholic and good citizens in Trinidad.Everyone was welcomed. Our church was a family! The Statue of Christ in this church has a beautiful story. In the 1800 a Spanish shipped arrived with the Christ from Spain on a Spaniard ship. The ship had been having trouble navigating with the statue because of its weight. There was a big storm at the time. Seas were rough. Every attempt made to sail away with the large and heavy statue (Christ of Trinidad) was defeated by the rough sea waters. The ship left, leaving behind the statue, which is now in this church. This statue is of great holiness to Trinidad. Even thru the Castro Regime, our church family managed to hold Sunday School, baptisms, communions, Religious Plays, Christmas Plays, Easter Day Plays, Mother's Day Plays, This is where all my family and I were baptized and did our communion. May was the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary. All children would gather roses and flowers and at the end of each Mass would present the flower offering to the Virgin Mary at the center alter. During the Mass all songs performed by our course were dedicated to the Virgin Mary and in theme. We would hold many ours of chorus practice. My piano teacher, would not have it any other way.
This place only brings me fond memories. I spent my childhood going every Saturday to the cathequesis. There I only didn't learned religion but also values I carry in my personality. Thanks Santisima Trinidad. Thanks Padre Cirilo.
great place to be!
Very nice church especially at sun set, it is the main piece of a lively and beautiful square.
A great place, especially during sunset. Located in city center
