    A cozy bookstore in downtown San Mateo. Tons of books sorted by categories and several chairs to sit and browse. Prices can usually be found on the first inside page. Bonus points for playing good music too.

    I am a graduate of Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. I am President and CEO of a Silicon Valley startup. I am also Hispanic, none of which I mentioned when I called this bookstore yesterday to ask whether I could bring my three kids age 3 and 5 to buy some used books to support local bookstores during Covid-19. I was told to bring them in. When I went today, the store owners were extremely rude to us the second I walked in the door. This does not happen to my Caucasian wife. I try to support local small businesses, but we will not be returning to this one.
