It's just up the first set of stairs off the street, heading toward the mount hill. It's a very old temple that Is being restored by a French development aid fund. The murals inside it are amazing it's worth visiting.

In a slow but gentle decay, it contains interesting murals whereby in one section, the locals and its king were depicted in Chinese style - likely drawn by a Chinese mural artist. It sits at the base of Phousi, directly across from the museum.

Wat Pa Huak (or Houak) is a small temple built in 19th century with interesting murals (partially damaged) depicting the life of the Buddha as a king and showing Luang Prabang as a heavenly city receiving foreign visitors. There are military and domestic scenes as well as fine images of flora and fauna.

Situated on a small hill on Sisavangvong Road, opposite of Haw Prabang and the palace Museum, Wat Pa Huak founded in 1861 has its small sim (อุโบสถ) with the old painting on the wall inside. The old wooden carving facade (หน้าบัน) , poles and doors are weathered and deserted. But they are great; do not miss this historical site if visiting Luang Prabang.
