The Pfortmühle is the oldest mill in the city of Hameln. It was built in 1405. In 1894 the mill was destroyed by fire, but it was rebuilt by the owner, a Hamelin entrepreneur. Today the building is owned by the city of Hameln. In 1912 a turbine-driven generator was installed, which can still be seen today. Until 1968 the buildings and facilities were also used as a mill. The city library and the Böhmerwald restaurant are located in the building. Here you can enjoy bohemian and international dishes. Those who like to drink Czech beers will be served very well with Staropramen and Budweiser. At the same time, the visitor can then look at the huge generator in the restaurant and think into the mill system based on the extensive illustrations and documentation.
