Wonderful outdoor space. Great camps for kids and interesting programs for the whole family.
Flanders has the best trails in the Roxbury/Southbury area for seeing springtime wildflowers, a variety of plants, and farm animals (there's a trail that passes by a farm with horses and goats).
We did the Whittmore area. The trails are very well marked but portions poorly maintained. Parts are under water, necessitating detours into the woods, some are blocked by downed trees, again meaning you need to go cross country. If the trails were better maintained it would be a much better experience.
One of my favorite places to visit
Didn't really get outdoprs.in the center much. Went for the Artisan Fair in the Van Vleck house which was WONDERFUL! And continues through Christmas.
