    I borrowed $5K from a friend of mine to buy a car. He sent me a check, that I've tried to deposit to my USECU checking account, which I had open for about 2 yrs. I saw that the amount was pending for many days. After 6 days of waiting, I decided to call USECU to find out what's going on. I was told that the check was put on hold and I was being asked if I want that hold to be removed. Yes, that sounded like a good idea. After 7 days of my initial deposit I've also received a physical paper letter from them, which was stating that the check was put on hold. It just makes me wonder that they could not find a more efficient way (email/text/phone call/messaging inside the online banking platform) to contact me. The car that I was going to buy was sold before my check was cleared. After this episode, I immediately closed my account. Getting access to my own money is kind of important for me. If you are the same way, you probably want to chose another institution.

    I got an auto loan through them. At first they gave me checks to send in and pay my loan. If you want to call and use your card they charge you $10. They charged me a late fee one time because they answered the phone but someone from that department wouldnt be in till tues..this was a sun. You can go to a branch and pay with a debit card but just a warning if you ever need to use credit better call and pay the 10 bucks over the phone bc I read they would process your card as a cash advance in the branch which would hit you with high fees and raise the apr on your card automatically. Supposedly you can now transfer money from your bank to theirs online but the website is horrible and cant sync with sdccu for some reason. Update: one of the managers Michele called me and was very nice and helped make things right with the late fee and setting up payments but they still have work to do
