    The 'New' synagogue in the city of Luxembourg was inaugurated in 1953. It is located on Avenue Monterey. The synagogue was built according to the plans of the architects Victor Engels and René Maillet and was inaugurated on June 28, 1953. The previous building by the architects Ludwig Levy and Charles Arendt, the Old Synagogue in the city of Luxembourg, was built in 1893/94 and was located on the Rue Notre-Dame. It was destroyed by the German occupiers in 1943 during the Second World War.
