Got to know the history of Malta
FYI I travel all the way from Mellieha area, to see this historic landmark. But the Grandmaster Palace is closed for three years, until 2023, for renovation.
As of Jan 2020, there is truly no point in paying for the ticket that gives you access to the Armour Museum + the State Rooms + the MUZA, because the last two are under heavy renovation that essentially means you see NOTHING. Having seen pictures of the State Rooms online, I was so excited to visit them, only to find that the corridors (normally so beautifully painted) were essentially construction zones where all of the paintings have been stripped and removed and there are just tarps and scaffolding everywhere; most of the state rooms were cordoned off and had key items removed so there wasn't much to see. They should be ashamed that they are even charging people to visit this area at all. Huge rip off while renovations are going on! At the MUZA, there are only two floors and all the galleries on the first floor are off limits for the time being. At least they are up front about that and have a notice at their ticket desk that mentions this and offers a slightly discounted rate on admission due to the limited scope of what is available. I'm only giving 2 stars because the Armoury Museum, while small, is actually surprisingly interesting and has an impressive collection of weapons and armour. Perhaps when renovations are complete here and at MUZA, they will be worth a visit, but for now, save your money and skip the 10euro ticket.
The armer is a must to visit
Very disappointing for a palace.......plus many areas closed for restoration.
