It's Greek. A small menu but the food does all the talking. Fabulous Greek home cooking. The kitchen is very small. The toilets are downstairs which are steep and stone spiral. They are 10 star clean modern and perfect. Good service and very keen prices. Portions are large.
An unassuming Greek restaurant, set in a long line of anonymous restaurants in Merchants St, Elia serves up simple traditional authentic Greek food and wine. In a street of instantly forgettable tourist traps, Elia stood out both for the quality of the food and also its authentic Greek cooking. Friendly staff, good food, not expensive. Recommended.
Small Greek restaurant in the centre of Valletta. Service was slow and staff not very friendly. Also quite expensive for what they serve. Food quality was good though, but portions could be better. I ordered mixed grill (one skewer of chicken, one of pork and a beef & lamb mince "sausage"), which came with lots of chips, but only 3 small pieces of pitta bread, a small pot of tzanziki and a bit of salad.
We started with a mixed dips and some extra pita washed down with white Greek wine. For mains we opted for a mixed grill and calamari. Both were executed perfectly. Finished with balaclava which was freshly done. Staff was very welcoming and service was extremely efficient. We will surely be back and recommend to family and friends.
Genuine Greek food from genuine Greek chefs. You may miss them if you visit in the off season as they go back to Greece for the winter. Lunch menu is particularly good value. Evening meals are a little expensive.
