    There are different directions for a hike here. The hike with the "number 478" takes you from Solothurn train station to Welschenrohr. Shortly after or before (depending on which side you come from) Solothurn, this route called "Weissenstein Passwang Weg" leads you through the Verena Gorge. At the very top of the Weissenstein at 1279m you have reached the highest point and from now on it goes down. If you come from Solothurn, then you have walked along the main road for a while and now come into the forest towards the 478.
