We booked a tour with Mondulkiri adventure to go trekking two days in the jungle with a guide. Sam came and even before presentations, he asked for the money, pretexting he needed it to buy fruits for us. We were supposed to sleep in the forest in hammocks and when we arrived in the village, he said it was better for us to sleep there because of the mosquitos and malaria (as there are mosquitos all the time no need to offer this option?) and to spend time with the locals. We joined a couple who started the tour the day before and they told us that they spent the evening just together. Then another surprise : we went walking with another guide, yes kind, but not professional. His english was poor and he didn't teach us anything about the forest. We were supposed to pick food from the forest and to cook with indigenous people; finally the lunch had been prepared before. When we cameback in the village we asked to call Sam to end the tour now because it was far from what they had presented. We waited several hours before he came back, he then refused to give us our money back. We had pay 75$/person for 2 days (the couple with us had paid 55$/person) so we wanted 50$ back to still pay the day we had spent. After long debates while Sam was virulent and intimidating, speaking about the police and things who didn't make sense, we finally left with 25$ back. We were disappointed and bitter, we don't recommend it at all !!
Me and three other friends booked a tour with Mondulkiri adventure to trek two days in the jungle with a guide. When Sam arrived to pick us up, he asked for the money directly by claiming he needed it to buy the food. When we reached the village, we met a couple who had started the same trip the day before. They told us that we would sleep here and that they had dinner just both of them without the community. We asked Sam if we would sleep in the forest and he said it was better for us to sleep there because of the mosquitos and malaria (as there are mosquitos all the time no need to offer this option?) and to spend time with the locals... Then another dillusion : we hiked with another guide, yes kind, but not professional. He almost didn't speak English and he told us nothing about the forest. We were supposed to pick food from the forest and to cook with indigenous people; finally the lunch had been already packed. When we came back at the community we asked the guide to call Sam to stop the tour because it was nothing like the website describes it. We waited several hours before he arrived... During that waiting, the couple told us they had paid 55$ per person for the trip while we had paid 75$ per person. When he finally arrived, he refused to give us our money back. After a long and strong debat (Sam was not fair, didn't want to hear the true and was intimidating, like saying we would go talking to the police for exemple), we finally left with 25$ back... We felt stolen and very upset by this experience. This project is not fair and honest at all, they are just interested by the money. We wouldn't recommend to go there !!
Don’t contract the tour with this company they also sell us something diferent! There is no real jungle. We were so upsed and Sam was agresive, we left one day before and Sam kept our money. He also spoke so bad thing about his country... avoid it if you can...there are so many companies!
We spent one amazing day trekking in the jungle and the second one, feeding and washing elephants. Our guide, original Bunong, was very nice and funny. Besides expert of the jungle, amazing landscapes and swim in the waterfalls. We spent the night in the village of our guide, eating amazing food and drinking some risewine with the friendly locals. I really reccomend this tour, amazing people, great experience!
