Moved to Woodbury during the pandemic so haven’t really ventured out much. Tried take out at San Remo yesterday. These are the BEST grinders (I call them heroes) that I’ve had since moving to Connecticut! Honestly. We’ve taken out from at least 8 other Italian restaurants in the area and these are by far the best. The sauce is really good and the food has taste! Large portions. My son had the chicken parmigiana and I had the eggplant parmigiana. Big thumbs up! 👍🏻 We will definitely return.

As someone With hospitality degree I hate leaving bad reviews. Wanted to speak to a manager in the restaurant but changed my mind because I see similar reviews bringing the issue to your attention- but from my today’s experience- the issue is still not addressed by the management. So I guess no point talking to a manager. Multiple times called for pick up - every single time I called I was given certain time, in reality food was never made on time. Had to wait 15,20 minutes extra - now with little toddler it’s a deal breaker to get food on time - and when I call and ask how long - I rely on you planning my child’s meal. Today went to dine in. Monday, noon. Not the busiest day. Right ? Waited for fried calamari for 20 min. Then my and my husbands entrance come out. But not my child’s. Another 15 min for chicken noodle soup and French fries to come out. In what world main dishes are brought out separately? If anything a meal for a child needs to come first. So I had to share some of my fish with my son. By the time his food came he picked on fries and didn’t even touch soup. I really wanted my child eat warm soup but your Time management and lack of logic ruined it. And I really don’t need to explain and ask a waiter to bring child’s food first. This is basic restaurant etiquette. Obviously didn’t even have any desire to ask for desert and coffee and wait for it another 30 min. I don’t know who is responsible for long wait. I’m not sure if you need extra help in the kitchen or you need more waitresses. But something has to change. Your food is good can’t say the same about the rest. Sadly won’t be coming back. P.s. forgot to mention your discriminating “masks are optional for FULLY vaccinated people” sign. And for not vaccinated ? I need to eat in mask ? Or remove it every 20 min when new dish comes? I mean it’s a bad look right there by the entrance door. Please remove that sign- masks should be optional for everyone or not mentioned at all.

San Remos has decent pizza pies for woodbury, I haven't tried any other entrees. My biggest advice would be to order your food for takeout. The waitstaff are incredibly slow, our waitress was extremely rude and left my table unattended for 45 minutes until I had to grab the hostess. So, again the food is decently priced and pizza is alright.

Now, I want to share my experience with you all just so you can take it how you please. I got a small white buffalo chicken pizza for lunch on my break, I did not see a single line cook wear gloves while making food, I didn't see if my pizza specifically was made with someone wearing gloves or not, but the next 5 or 6 pizzas I saw being made in the time frame I was there no gloves were worn. I worked in a restaurant in Oxford for 5 years on and off while I was going to school and all the chefs and line cooks wore gloves all the time and changed them regularly. Cross contamination is a real issue and its unnerving to think about the possibility of cross contamination in my food or others food. I saw one cook specifically knead dough and then put his hands right in the bucket of cheese and sprinkle it on the pizza, even if minor this is pretty gross, when did this guy last wash his hands? Not to mention the fact that we are still in a pandemic and sanitation is more important now than it has been relative to our collective lifestyle as humans in our relative lifespan ESPECIALLY in the food service industry. On top of all this the pizza was ok at best, I was disappointed with a half hour wait time, I get that it's Friday but for a half an hour wait time the pizza needs to taste better. Disclaimer: I can't speak on behalf of all the food that has been made at this restaurant, this situation was specific to the pizza station, there were 2 cooks there making pizza with no gloves on in my experience that I have described. I have no idea what the kitchen set up is, or the number of cooks and chefs that they have as I don't work there and this was my first time going. I really hope I just caught them on an off day or perhaps maybe their glove shipment got lost or delayed but you need to wear gloves when preparing food.
