I scheduled an appointment with Ron's auto service. I spoke with the mechanic to schedule an appointment to rebuild the carburetor on an 86 Silverado. He gave me a quote of $250-$350 to rebuild the carburetor. Appointment was scheduled for April 22, 2021. Truck started at this time, it was just in need of tuning. He said 2 days max to complete the job. I waited 2 weeks and didn't hear anything. We stopped by and the mechanic said they hadn't had a chance to look at it. After waiting a few days again i called and they called me back to let me know the truck didn't have gas and if i can drop off some gas myself. I had never heard of such a thing. I took them fuel anyways even though they are located next to Chevron. We dropped off fuel, and guess what the truck had fuel. It didn't need fuel to begin with. At this point I left and didn't hear anything from them for a few days. They called days later to ask us to go looking for gaskets and fittings needed for the job to be completed. I never had a shop ask us to search for parts. We went to different auto parts stores and At this point we figured out by another mechanics shop and parts store that the carburetor they were trying to rebuild wouldn't pass smog and was illegal in California. The agreement was to get the truck smog ready and legal. We went back to the shop with Gary and Santiago and told them what we found out. They didn't disagree and we spoke about installing the original carburetor to pass smog. At this point we were supposed to install the original carburator and it was supposed to be simple. We didn't hear from them again, keep in mind its been weeks with nothing accomplished. I called again and discussed picking up the truck, as this was supposed to be my sons graduation gift and it was turning into a huge problem and headaches going back and forth. Finally 6 weeks later Gary the owner called and said the motor didn't work and the truck doesn't start anymore. I have videos of my son starting his truck at home, posted on Instagram. I decided at this point to pick up the truck and arrange for a tow out of the shop on June 4 . My sons graduation gift was supposed be great to have his running truck and because of this shops incompetence to do the job he ended up getting his truck home on a tow truck. I got the bill from Gary. I could not believe he wanted $1586.00 for services and only $137 was for parts they purchased. The truck was worst than when we took it in and I asked for proof of labor. I wanted to know what was done on those total hours of labor. Gary could not show me a list of anything done to the truck, and when asked to speak to the mechanic who worked on the truck he was gone for the day according to him. I told Gary i wouldn't pay the full bill, because the truck was not running. Gary stated he felt comfortable if we settled at $1200. I paid the $1200 to get the truck out of his shop and not have anymore issues. I was advised to do that by the Better business bureau. Now I have the truck home not running. I don't feel like this business is competent to be running, so i have reported them to the Better business bureau and the bureau of automotive repair. I've contacted the owner Gary and he said he'll take his chances in a hearing and refused to give me my money back. I am out the towing fees plus what i paid him. BBB has tried to contact him already with no response of course, but i will definitely be seeking legal action towards this business. Please be careful, this is a business that was owned by Ron and had great reviews, but since December of last year it is a new owner Gary and I don't think they know what they are doing. Terrible service, tons of charges not justified on invoice and a job that was supposed to be 2 days turned into 6 weeks of nothing but headaches and excuses on there part. I highly recommend people stay away from this business, Ron was a good mechanic, the new owner Gary doesn't do any work himself and his mechanic Santiago is playing a guessing game when it comes to diagnosing a vehicle.

I took Gary my C10 to have him swap the carburetor he said he could get it done in 2 days and after 6 weeks of hassle and having to buy the parts myself he gave up on the project and left me with a not running truck that I had to pay him $1,200 to get it out of his shop plus towing fees to get it back to my house. NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!
