I used to come here often for meetings years ago. Went recently. Scenery as always is top, but services and wait staff. Not so much. The dress attire but of wait staff and customers coming in recently are not so professional or classy. More rough crowds or like there getting ready to go to the club. I brought an older family friend for dinner, she isn't into tech, the wait staff were obnoxious and unpaitent enough to simply tell her they don't have physical menus and everything digital (don't they get most there pay from our tips?) both walked away without finishing to help. We went through two rude waiters until we got to one gentleman who was kind. The food isn't all that best for the price. The Japanese tacos are very small for $17... Ironically one of the managers came to our table after we paid. We explained our experience, he was kind enough to listen and apologize. I'd say if you're going to come here for the roof top scenery and photos. do it, but for service, respect and quality food. No.
Takami is one of my absolute favorite sushi restaurants in Los Angeles. Definitely order from their specialty rolls menu: the Takami Roll and the Lemon-Albacore Roll are delicious! And don't forget to start off with the Takami Edamame. But if you have non-sushi eaters in your party (what?!), they have a wonderful robata menu. When I lived in Los Angeles, this was my go-to restaurant for a special night of sushi with friends and family from out of the area as well as when I just wanted to have a nice evening out with local friends. I moved out of the states several years ago and recently returned to celebrate the graduation of a friend. Takami was a must on my "restaurants to re-visit" and I am thrilled that the food is still just as delicious and the service possibly better (is that even possible!). Our server, Scott, was tremendously friendly and attentive - even anticipating what we were going to order for appetizers. Each of our courses seemed to arrived with perfect timing. Topping it all off was dinning with a great view of the downtown city skyline during a beautiful southern California sunset. Whether you're celebrating an special occasion, or just looking for a relaxed meal of fantastic sushi, I cannot recommend this place more highly. Hats off to Scott and the rest of the Takami staff for also keeping the restaurant just as wonderful as I remember. (My friends and I do wish you could bring back the Rose Petal Martini though!)
Great to know Takami is still as fantastic as I recall. The tacos were super light and delicious, the "21st st. Roll" was really tasty treat, both are must haves. Char from the grill for the veggie robatas added some great depth and make sure to get the black truffle sauce with it. Sea Bass was really good. And thank God for RC, the best mixologist in LA. Cocktails are amazing and make sure to ask for a "Time & Place" shot. You'll be in for a really fun treat. "Gold Shorts" secret menu cocktail is also a must.
This spot obviously knows how to satisfy their clients. Always with a super friendly mindset. The food is fairly priced, regularly tasty and neat.
James Ward made this the best birthday experience ever! It was my birthday, the Sake and rolls recommendations were some of the best eats I've ever had. Definitely coming back here to take advantage of the views as well
