I changed to Encore Partners LLP after moving to SD two years ago. I had been with another CPA for almost thirty years, and liked them, but wanted a second opinion on the tax consequences of selling my property. My old CPA had indicated that I might owe quite a large capital gains due to depreciation, and I wanted someone new to take a look at my books and records (which I am very meticulous about.). Michael Hartnett of Encore Partners was amazing. Not only was he knowledgeable and professional, he went through everything with a fine tooth comb and determined that my potential tax was far lower than I had feared. It was a very complicated tax situation, as my property was also my business, and there were a lot of different “moving parts” so to speak, with multiple Schedules and complicated depreciation recapture etc. etc. He was always patient, explained everything thoroughly, and was able to minimize what I owed. I was ecstatic to get the matter handled so expeditiously and competently. He was honest and thorough. He also was quite reasonable given the amount of schedules involved in my situation. I had worried about the tax consequences of the sale for several years prior to the sale and was grateful to have the matter handled as favorably as it was. I would recommend him without hesitation.
