I love books, this place is heaven -- beautiful and very quiet. You can be comfy and just read. Definitely not the typical library.
I absolutely ADORE this library! The interior is truly a sparkling gem to behold.
My favorite from the local libraries, it's old school yet modernized. Small, but has a nice atmosphere/ambience/feel. They have an ongoing book sale where you may well find a good book for 50 cents, or a dollar or even a quarter. The Central library downtown is my favorite library however. But I sometimes have books transferred from the Central Library to Wilshire Branch, so I can pick them up without having to travel downtown, because sometimes I don't want to/don't have time to do that. I first visited this library in the mid 1980s or early 1980s. From about 1988 (or 89?) up to 1995, the Wilshire Branch library was relocated to a structure on Western Ave near Beverly Blvd which used to be a post office (back when it was a post office, the acclaimed writer Charles Bukowski had worked there for some years) . I went many times as a kid there to that relocated location as well. Then in 95 or 96, the original old Wilshire branch building renovation was finished and the library moved back to where it is now. The Wilshire Branch library doesn't have parking, but you can usually find parking quick right outside on the streets. I usually just walk there.

The staff is great. You can reserve books, DVDs, or other listening materials online for pick up here. They have community building activities like citizenship classes and parental education. They also have weekly events and book discussions.
