    Smith Coatings came knocking on my mother's door, promising they could "seal" my parents' old aluminum roof barn with some holes in it. My mother is not familiar with roofing terms, and understood "seal" to mean make waterproof. Later, we would learn that "seal", to Smith Coatings, basically means to paint a metal roof. Part of doing business is educating your customers on your products and services, not using sales terms to trick customers into making decisions against their interests. When I realized what had happened, I called the work off. The owner apologized that "It didn't work out". I would recommend Smith Coatings alter their sales pitch to make sure customers know that their product is basically paint. Another thing Smith failed to mention about their service, is that after they cleaned the top of the roof, the interior of the barn was filled with dirt, leaves, and water. Smith didn't tell us this would happen, or even look inside the barn before hand to see what was inside. Paperwork, tools, and supplies were covered in wet dirt. It will take me days to clean up. Overall, Smith might have had the best intentions, but the manner in which they do business is in need of a big overhaul. They only took a portion of their fee for the work, but if I were him I would have been ashamed to accept payment for the mess they made here.

    I used to work for this company and all I can say is that they are one of the most caring, hard working, dedicated companies I’ve ever worked for. The management is very available and considerate, they always make the employees feel cared about and valued. And they all have a great sense of humor. The coating applications that they use is THE BEST way to preserve your roof or driveway. They can make a shake roof look brand new again. Just an all around great product supplied by a wonderful group of hard working people.

    I called on Tuesday , two days before Thanksgiving. My roof had been leaking for a couple of years and have had many roofers out.Fred came out on Friday. Showed me all that was wrong with my roof. Told me what needed to be done to get through the rainy season. Did what he said , and no more leak. I will get the rest dealt with this summer. I appreciate his honesty to the fullest. Words can not express my appreciation to him.
