It is a historic site of the city of Cumana, and near it are the colonial houses

It is a fort built in the seventeenth century, on the hill Pan de Azúcar, near Cumaná, to protect the city from pirate raids, from which you can see the Gulf of Cariaco and the Araya peninsula, it has a star design four points, each of which points towards a cardinal point; walls of two meters thick, served as pressure at the time of the colony and is connected to the city through tunnels and passages.

It is a fundamental part of the history and culture of Cumaná, however you have to go safely or at the time of festivities where the place is guarded
