So peaceful here. Great birding and a hiking highly recommend it to any nature enthusiast
Body pond s Nature park gives one the feeling of being in a real tropical rain forest albeit not far from civilization. More of a drive or hike through park rather than the ones found in many cities. The nature aspect of the park really stands out. Stretching in the valley from Bendals Village to the follies area of Swetes Village on the other end. The signage is mainly on the Bendals end. Strictly speaking it continues on from the Bendals Main Road heading through the Buckley's Village Valley and then on to Swetes Village. I made several valiant attempts in non-four while drive or off-road vehicles and ended up on foot, I attempted from both ends unsuccessfully. While walking the rest of the way I noticed tire marks of all terrain vehicles and even encountered a person on a mountain bike and also a four wheel drive vehicle seems to have made the journey. The trail or road rather was paved with concrete, un-paved in other areas and water filled potholes dotted the partway. Arriving at the Body pond itself was an adventure, having to contend with a fierce cattle, some dogs and the impromptu hiking made it more of an achievement for me. A sign told me to "Take nothing but photographs and leaving nothing but footprints" so I kindly obliged by taking many photos of the area and leaving some footprints behind as well. The whole adventure including the other attempts to reach the Body Pond was quite rewarding and fulfilling on many levels for me. The tall trees and sweeping vistas were a good combination and provided many opportunities to enjoy the great out doors.
Cool locating with interesting history
