I disagree with the person who says this is a tribute to a traditional way of life in Iceland, this is definitely a hunter's trophy room. However, it's well done and the taxidermy is quite beautiful. There's a wide range of animals, I didn't get the impression he's into hunting endangered species or anything, and he talked about things like preserving the lives of rhinos who are poached. Overall it's an interesting little place to visit with a wide range of animals from around the world, as well as some exhibits on various kinds of rifles and well known hunters. The owner could make the exhibit even better by bringing in more information and displays talking about the historical and cultural importance of hunting to Icelandic survival, especially in the settlement days. That would make this more informative like a museum and I think it would appeal to a broader audience.

The owner calls this a "Wildlife Museum" but it's really just a hunter's trophy room. If you're one of these who enjoy beating your chest and boasting about how you shot and killed multiple beautiful beasts and some endangered animals just so you feel better about your miserable self, then yes, this guy and this place is perfect for you. If you have respect and love for wildlife then avoid this place.

Contrary to what some people have said, this is more than just some "hunters trophy room" That would be a gross understatement to the time and dedication taken to provide and in-depth look of the knowledge behind the animals from the eyes of local Icelandic people's. Taxidermy is a thing in Iceland as they preserve and cherish the animal for what it represents. The hunter-gatherer aspects of living is still seen throughout Iceland especially south. It is to be respected that these people have continued to thrive this way in modern times. The gallery itself is well displayed with an abundance of information available on each animal. The guide himself was very friendly and knowledge about each animal and explained in detail each animals habitat as well as their lifestyle. There was no photography allowed inside which is fine as the magic can only be had if you visit it in person. Auf Wiedersehen!
