This is not a classic museum, it is the home of a 87 year old lady who shows you her and her husbands stone and mineral collection. They are presented in a beautiful way and she can tell you the story of all her findings. Her house is full of them. She showed us her flat and a lot of different handmade things. Carvings, Pottery and other things. She gave us some handmade silk postcards and did not accept any money. Lovely old lady, worth visiting when you are interested in minerals or islandic handcraft. She speaks quite good English for her age.
I had a very warm welcome into the home of the old lady who runs the exhibit with her husband. She did not at all let her age hold her back as she did an excellent job explaining some of her collection which the pair has been collection for the past few decades. One of my more notable experiences was observing a beautifully cut miner which was just recently made an addition to her collection, where she further explained where I may also be able to find in the next town over. I've been to a few rock and mineral museums around the country now but this one has definitely been the most enjoyable experience. There are a few rooms to explore each of which surrounded by cases of minerals. Chances are you will be alone and overwhelmed when face to face with hundreds of alluring rocks and minerals on display. Additionally, there was no entrance fee for the exhibit nor was she willing to accept one from me.
Their collection of rocks is amazing !!
