    A strange experience, to say the least! State hotel with friendly but extremely slow service. Here you are light years away from the big world. On the weekends a meeting point for a drink, one of the few places that serve alcohol. The breakfast here is minimal, for an extra you can get an egg! The hotel has an older, cheaper, some as well as a more modern one (well ...). There is actually internet here, though very slow and shaky. After all, pleasant!

    Good, like everything on Tarawa. People make up for much through their friendliness. Tarawa is poor, you have to cut corners. But one is more than compensated by a life-affirming liveliness of the people.
