The Djibouti parliament building. Photo taken March 25 2013
The chamber of deputies of the French territory of Afars and Issas at the beginning of 1973. In 1894, Léonce Lagarde established a permanent French administration in the city of Djibouti and he named the region “the French Somalis Coast”. From 1896 to 1967, the country was renamed the Territory of Afars and Issas, then in 1977 the country obtained its independence and became the Republic of Djibouti. This building was replaced by the current National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti.
