Church of St. Jakub Větší in Železný Brod The first mention of the Brod church dates back to the 13th century. In 1497, a bell with a relief of the Železný Brod pieta was hung on a new or repaired church. The existing church of St. Jakub Většího was built around 1762 by rebuilding an older church from 1649. An interesting feature of the interior is the main altar from 1932–33, made according to the design of architect R. Klenka from Sliven marble and glass. Next to the church there is a one-storey parish building from 1763, a bell tower from 1761, an ossuary from 1765. The stone staircase leading from the Small Square to the church was completely rebuilt in 1940. It is lined with Baroque sandstone statues of St. Anna, Virgin Mary and St. Jan Nepomucký. Behind the church near the sacristy is a sandstone reconciliation cross. The church is open to visitors regularly during July and August, always on Thursdays from 10 am to 12 noon. Nice place that radiates peace and quiet.
We were at Jarmark so we just drunk there otherwise it was a great environment
The beautiful Baroque building from the 18th century, which attracts attention from a distance, stands on an elevated position above the river. The current building replaced the former church. Next to the church building there is a separate bell tower and behind the church there is a rectory and a chapel. Stairs lined with beautiful baroque sculptures lead to the church.
Nice city. Historic church buildings
