    Not a whole lot of choice in Changuinola... Um, it's cheap. Owner spoke just enough English. We took the large dorm with 5 beds which was pristine, no complaints about the cleanliness of the room or the attached bathroom. But no hot water and no mirror. The common room / kitchen upstairs was squalid. No clean cutlery or crockery, and no easy way to clean anything because every surface had dirty stuff on it. No visible way to make coffee. The pool looked terrifying. Very noisy location - you can look forward to the complete set of dogs, cats, cars, motorcycles, trucks, trucks' engine-braking, shouting neighbors, fire-crackers and roosters clearly audible all night because the window was missing a pane.

    If you need a place to stay after crossing from Costa Rica and may be too late for the boats, this one is safe and easy. Changuanola is not a tourist destination, however.

    The room was clean. Before arriving I had quoted a price and when I arrived they gave me a higher price than the one quoted. There are not many hostel options in Changuinola, so I had to accept the surprise price. There is no hot water. It does have air conditioning. There is no television.
