The fortifications now exceed 25-29 m long, with steep slopes and towers specifically cut out. The area of the fortification occupies about 20 hectares. The fortress had a large circular structure at first sight without entry. In fact, the only entrance on the hill was (from the southern side of the fortress). The remains of the Palace of the King are visible inside the old city. The public square from the north (intended for big masses of people). For some time, Erk-Kala had been known as Margush.
