Beautiful old church, not overloaded, a wonderful place to simply find a moment of rest. ☺️🌻

A wonderful, beautiful little church with a choir dating back to the early 13th century. First documented mention in 1232. Erected with field stones, later expanded with brick. The single-nave church interior was built in the 16th century as a hall church in brick construction. At the end of the 17th century the wooden church tower, which only slightly protrudes from the church building, was built. The church entrance was relocated from the tower to the south side of the nave. The original church tower was destroyed in the 30 Years War. During World War II the church was damaged by a bomb hit nearby. The roof structure was repaired after the war, but in large parts it is still preserved with its original beams. During the restoration from 1990 to 1995, the tower was completely renewed. Since then the tower has been tilted slightly towards the west. In the course of the restoration, the organ was also replaced. The organ pipes from the original 1949 instrument were sold and the proceeds went towards restoration. The church is surrounded by a circle of approx. 20 old linden trees, which also border the original churchyard. In addition to some historical graves, a few graves that are currently being maintained have been preserved. There are also graves of soldiers and prisoners of war that are well cared for. The church is open to the public on Wednesdays between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. We had contact with the church clerk, Ms. Bötel; a nice lady who told us about "her" church with lots of charm and love. THANKS A LOT FOR THIS !

A not too big church, with its own herbs.

Unusually, the combination of brick nave with a wooden church tower - the grave of Russian prisoners of war is completely neglected and neglected
