In 1828 the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III answered the requests of the 300 residents of Annenwalde for their own church. The Annenwald Church was built from 1833 to 1835 according to plans by the state architect Carl Friedrich Schinkel and was consecrated on the king's birthday. As exactly as Schinkel's instructions were observed during the construction, the tower on the west side of the church, drawn in the original design, was not realized. Today the Annenwald Church with its Heise organ from 1835 is a carefully renovated gem that is well worth a visit. Incidentally, the entire village of Annenwalde is well worth a visit.
