Dr Darren Chen

Three months following total knee replacement and I haven't looked back. Three nights in hospital and home with just a walking stick, the pain I had in my joint prior to the surgery gone. Three weeks of outpatient rehabilitation and I was ready to continue my regime at home. Now walking up to 10 kms without issue. From my first appointment Dr Chen and his team ensured that everything ran smoothly, were very informative and professional . It was very refreshing to have Dr Chen genuinely ask what my goals and expectations were following my recovery and to direct me on how to best achieve them. Thank you to a great team.

Can’t speak more Highly of Darren after a full knee replacement in January his manner both by him and his anaesthetist Martin was exemplary made me feel like I was having a tooth out! I was out in three days with no pain whatsoever climbed 43 steps to my house with no help just one crutch for a week then walked crutch free, it’s now 8 weeks and after rehab of which quite a few patients are still far behind from operations by other surgeons and hearing what they say and I would certainly recommend Darren to anyone, not forgetting his operating technique which people have called the Chen smile because of the half moon cut at the side of the knee. I could not fault anything and am over the moon with everything associated with Darrens office and St George Private the scar has virtually gone and my leg is back to its normal size.

On the 26th of August I was admitted to St George Private for a Bi lateral Knee replacement and Dr Darren Chen performed the operation. Today 13 days later I attended the office of Dr Chen for my 1st checkup after my operation. I can walk unaided, with virtually no pain at this time although I still use crutches to give me a slight aid when negotiating stairs. My progress has been so far ahead of what I had expected it has astounded me and all my family and friends some of which have also had the same operation. I cannot speak highly enough of Darren and his team, thank you so much for your skill and caring. Well it is now 2 1/2 months after my bilateral knee replacement and I have returned to karate training after getting the nod from Dr Chen (although, sensibly, avoiding jumping and any hard sparring etc for some time to come). Being able to go for walks of 15,000 steps, or more, are easy and enjoyable (so good to be able to do that with my wife as it has been so long). My biggest tip for the most positive results is to get in shape beforehand!! Hop on the exercise bike a push,push, push. The stronger your muscles are the quicker your bounce back.....and of course choose Dr Chen to do your surgery.

Dr Chen performed a full knee replacement on my right knee 6 months ago. After being in excruciating pain on a daily basis and unable to even enjoy a leisurely walk with my family, I am now pain free. I am so grateful for Dr Chen and his team’s extremely professional and caring nature before during and after the surgery. Thank you. Highly recommended

Dr Darren Chen performed full knee replacement on my left leg. Walking well after 3 days and feel so much better than before surgery. His care and attention are second to none.
