Very interesting. Displays are out together to a very high standard. A very cute shop attached to the museum.
Exceptional and real! Unlike the many fake places trying to lure tourists, this is a non profit that really goes the extra mile in supporting and preserving traditional ethnic knowledge and skills. They have a very interesting museum, a shop with goods really made by the tribal groups, they also hold seminars and employ and train local people. I attended some lectures, was impressed with the professionalism. Places like this deserve support!
Do not miss this! What an excellent museum with a affordable admission fee of 25,000 kip - I truly enjoyed learning about the traditions of Laos' key ethnic groups through both the permanent exhibition and the ongoing special exhibition "Voices of the Wind". I found them both to be well-researched and well-curated despite the space constraints, and only wish there was a way to access the information online for future reference. The boutique in the museum is worth a visit as well. There is also a small interactive area for children.
That was really good place to learn local musical instrument and culture. If you have free time you acn learn how to make bamboo furniture.
An exceptionally fine, if small, museum providing an overview of Laos’ rich ethnic mix of cultures. For those interested in full instruments and music, as well as weaving and bakery the information provided is very complete and fascinating. There are numerous interactive displays and opportunities for hands on participation. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a more in depth insight into Lao culture than that provided than most touristic tours.
