In 1936, the Roman Catholic Church in Lielvārde was given a building plot for a church and a plot of land for a cemetery. The church was built according to the project of engineer A. Strazdiņš. On August 18, 1940, the priest J. Pudāns led the Holy Mass in the new house, where about 80 people could gather, but more than 100 had arrived. Rebuilt in 1992 according to the project of Pēteris Rudzītis. On October 25, 1992, the restored church was consecrated by Archbishop Jānis Pujāts. The altarpiece of the heart of Jesus was donated by Prelate Eduard Stukel in 1942, but the pilgrimage of the Virgin Mary was brought from Poland in 1991 by Pāvils Odiņš. Liturgical objects have been donated in the 1940s, as well as by the Catholic congregation from the town of Lielsensee in Oldensee (Netherlands).
