Cute modern art museum, totally free, four exhibit rooms showing off new work by Icelandic artists. Good stop on your way to the nearby geothermal park (though that is temporarily closed). There's a bright and modern cafe inside as well, which served espresso and coffee drinks. (A lot of cafes seem closed for covid still in May of 2021, so we were happy to find espresso drinks!)
This is such a quaint museum. It's FREE which matters a lot. The two women who were working there were very helpful, although there English was not very strong. The art is all a bit derivative of European modernist and impressionist, but very pleasant
Great museum with a good variation of styles of work (currently - I’m sure they rotate artists). I was surprised to see that we were the only people in there when we went, but it was the afternoon on a Wednesday so that may have been why. There are several large rooms of work as well as a big open room for kids to play/make art. They also serve snacks, which looked delicious. We’re here visiting from the U.S. and this is a must-see stop (especially if you have kids) if you’re an appreciator of art.
Well curated and displayed exhibition of great works of Modern Icelandic Art - saw the original of a reproduction in my guesthouse appartement there :-) Always something special for kids so they do not associate museum with boring endless slow rounds with their parents but become art lovers themselves.
Boring. If you like modern art it might be interesting.
