This museum has a wonderful personally curated collection of WW II memorabilia. Worth seeing, for adults and kids as well .

Fascinating and our host William was very knowledgeable about (until recently, very secret )historic events of WW2 in Iceland. So much to see and learn. I highly recommend a visit. The importance of peace rings true.

The exhibition contains some interesting WWII artefacts and memorabilia, which would make an informative experience, were it not for some serious drawbacks. The first drawback is the haphazard collection of items from the surrounding countryside, that is mixed in with the WWII artefacts without rhyme or reason, which makes the visitor experience very disorienting. Secondly, there is hardly any information to explain the exhibition and very little information is given, as to how the location connects to WWII. Thirdly, the staff was either not knowledgeable about the exhibition or very reluctant to supply the information. Hopefully the place will improve as time goes by.

The Icelandic War and Pease Museum - Herminjasafnið, is a historic museum and a memorial place about the WW2 in Iceland and the great convoy ship trail between America and Europe. The ships gathered here in Hvalfjörður - The Whale Bay in Iceland before they continued their way to Russia and to United Kingdom.
