The place looks good and it is very well maintained. If you visit during the summer season you must prepare for staying about 2 hours in a queue to the entrance of the church! Also, there are 2 parkings: one is a lower where anyone can stay, another one is just near the entrance where guys with infants and handicapped visitors can go. The stairs to the church are very slippery so be careful!
A very impressive place. Don't miss a sign that leads to the monastery. Unlike other reviewers, I think the road is just fine and safe considering you are in the mountains.
This place is really high up. Reaching it is quite a work out. Driving on those curvy roads and enjoying the views was amazing. Not for the faint hearted people. After you park you still have to walk stairs straight up. The monastery is located in the mountain and it’s crazy how high up it is and how tall the mountains are.
A mystery more than 4 centuries old..when there were no roads, equipment, excavators..the human will is felt and seen here. The saint whose bridges can be kissed, the shroud and the cross are there, in front of you, smelling and resting. The blanket is provided as well as holy water and holy oil. You can feel such serenity near the monastery under which you can sleep with hundreds of other people, that it is amazing. Unusual moments of night and sleeping under the open sky, waiting early in the morning for the doors of the sanctuary to open and the beginning of the liturgy are just some of the moments you feel. Recommendation for overnight stay and mandatory arrival.
Probably the most important religious place on Balkan. Many people have a nice experience, felt good vibes, happiness or some miracle. The ramp is about one hundred meters from the monastery and only visitors with small children or immobile can drive to the closest parking area. Recommend to anyone who can to get there by walking on the handmaiden pathway. The shop is well equipped with many religious things and the prices are good. Photo is forbidden in some areas.
