Beautiful scenery, great staff. Lovely experience
10/10. There is nothing more than I could ask from this hotel. It's pricey but worth every dime. The service is fantastic. Rooms services twice a day to an incredibly high standard. The food was excellent. I did the Full board option which I believe is the most economical. The excursions they sort for you are incredible. The staff are absolute angels. 3 beaches within walking distance. Banana beach is epic and the boat trip is highly recommended. I would come back again if I was in Príncipe. Helder deserves a special shout out. Great manager and very helpful
This is a place made with a lot of good taste and respect for the nature around. The staff is friendly and helpful. Plenty of activities to be done but don't be afraid to just chill on their beach either. It is a slice of paradise. The should only improve on the kitchen to get to that 5th star, which I've left out. A bit more local dishes and a more ingenious chef will get that done.
What to say to try to fully express the enormity of this experience, having the privilege of visiting Prínicipe and feeling warmly embraced by its islanders has had on us. The island is a magical Jurassic world full of life and interesting facets with warm and welcoming people. ‘Africa’s Eden’ only goes some way to encapsulating a holistic expression for Príncipe. Whether your thing is sun, sea, adventure on land or sea, total retreat and relaxation, culture, food, and meeting people, São Tomé and Príncipe are worth every moment of your journey. Hotel Roça Belo Monte (RBM) is a short but lovely journey from the bijou airport through the village, up into the hills to the forest, yet still remaining on the coastline! Not just one beach there are five beaches to choose from, all within walking distance, all beautiful, romantic and unsaturated with people. Fear not those of you that like me; share short legs in this world, the hotel vehicles will ‘ferry you’ to and from the beach if you choose. I challenge anyone not to be affected by the beaches. The ‘main beach’ Pria Banana has a bar, showers, WC, sunbeds and places to chill out. We were welcomed from the moment we got to the airport - taken to the sumptuous 1920’s architecture of the hotel and its grounds, where we were again warmly welcomed by Veronica with a refreshing cool face towel and an equally refreshing cold drink. Orientation was the most relaxed I’ve ever experienced. Really for me it was remarkable, as I don’t often really feel ‘at home’ in hotels of any size and format, however RBM gave me that feeling and it added to my ability to just be, immersing and indulging my spirit. The excellent development of some seriously funky drinks, fabulous array of wines and memorable food all contributed too - Grazie mille and acknowledgement to #chef_angelo_rosso here for his humbly described work in ‘food and beverage‘ for the hotel. Angelo is a world class chef supporting the team to showcase their talents, using the most wonderful local ingredients that show off their island’s ability to produce the bom sabor food and beverage offering. It was a treat to consume, getting increasingly better each day under the skilful direction of Chef Angelo. Service is always with a kind smile and every effort is made to communicate using many languages spoken from within the team including French, English, Portuguese and Spanish - if you are open to learning words of creolo of varying origins, the team will spend time teaching you as they work. They are all attentive yet not intrusive. There is a sentiment expressed in STP called ‘Léveléve’ and to me, here is the place to know what that truly means, in the loveliest way possible with some of the loveliest people I’ve met. If I had to list all the people of note then there would be a huge long list as each person put you at your ease and offers the same sincere warmth from the grounds keepers, the house keepers, to the gate and bar keepers, all interested in whether we are ‘tudo bom’? However, I feel compelled to remark on Myles who is at the helm, he is more than just a general manager, He and his team will do everything they can to help ensure that you have treasured experiences and memories. Whether your idea of a great holiday is: drinks, food and lazy days; in one of the many well manicured garden locations, by the pool or overlooking the sea on one of the terraces with a view of the forest down to BomBom Island, one of many beach options, adventures in hiking, snorkelling, diving, or fishing, or as we did, all of it combined, to while away the hours RBM will satisfy. Now, if you want a location to experience any or all of the above, and truly breathtaking views of some of, in my opinion, the best sunsets to behold on our world, then Roça Belo Monte on the Island of Príncipe is the place to centre yourself for your stay on the equator. A magical and memorable holiday. Sincerely um milhão obrigads/go raibh míle maith agat
We payed a visit to Belo Monte whilst staying in Bom Bom. Great views e.g. to Banana beach. Fine coffee and nice staff.
