    The monument is dedicated to the victims of the Ashgabat earthquake. A bronze sculpture 10 meters high, set on a marble-faced stylobate, rises 24 meters above the square. Until 2012, the monument, created on the initiative of President Saparmurat Niyazov in the form of a mighty bull holding the split Earth on its horns, was located in the central square of Ashgabat. The design of the monument was based on the ancient legend about a fantastic bull holding the earth on its horns. The bodies of the dead and the woman, with the last desperate movement of her hands, rescues her baby, raising him above the ruins of the city.
